Do I need a physician referral for physical therapy?
While a prescription is not always necessary, occasionally an insurance company will require its members to see a doctor before seeing a PT. If you think that may be the case with your particular insurance provider, contact our facility and we’ll be more than happy to verify your insurance benefits and contact you physician. If your particular problem requires treatment that is outside our expertise, we can also help you find a qualified physician or other trained medical professional who can help.
What should I expect on my first visit?
On your first visit you will be asked to complete any required paperwork and provide your insurance card, photo ID, and physician prescription if applicable. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment time to complete the necessary paperwork. Our front office coordinator will verify your insurance benefits and make you aware of any copays or coinsurance responsibilities.
You will then be evaluated by a licensed Physical Therapist who will perform a thorough physical examination. Your therapist will then develop a specific plan based on your unique condition which may include manual therapy, exercise instruction and guidance as well as modalities as indicated. We believe that every patient deserves a customized treatment plan for their specific condition.
How long will my visit last?
Your initial visit will take approximately 1 hour to complete the evaluation, design a custom treatment plan and provide care. The following appointments will last anywhere from 30-45 minutes depending on your diagnosis and the custom program designed specifically for you by your therapist.
